The space that once was Yi Cuisine, on Third St. right near the Farmer's Market has now become Celadon. Celadon is described as a Euro-Asian "galerie culinaire" with chef Danny Elmaleh, formerly of Lemon Moon in West L.A. "Galerie culinaire" seems to mean tapas. They've kept the Asian feel of the decor and the full bar, and the chef adds french technique to the mix in the food.
"howard81" gives the place a good review on Chowhound, saying: "the chef, Danny Elmaleh, apprenticed at Melisse and it shows! The food is a feast for the eyes as well as darned good eating! Asian small plates are the order of the day, and not only is the food delicious, but each and every plate that arrived was a work of art!" Celadon is open for dinner daily.
Celadon, 7910 W. Third St., Los Angeles, 323-658-8028.
David Myers of Sona will open a new brasserie to be called Comme Ça sometime in 2007 on Melrose. The chef will be Sona sous chef Michael David. He had previously made plans to open a japanese pub to be called Sokyo, with sushi chef Kazunori Nozawa, in the space, which was formerly occupied by Noura Cafe. When the space proved to big for the Sokyo concept, Myers, who had been carrying the idea of a modern brasserie around for a while, and having been inspired by recent trips to Paris, decided to do the French spot instead.
According to Myers, the brasserie will be "a really cool ambience, funky chairs, all of that, and bright, bustling and lively. It will be a true representation of what brasserie cuisine is. We'll serve a few beers, oysters, choucroûte, pâtés, terrines, a huge cheese selection, but also moules frites and onion soup."
Comme Ça, 8479 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood.

the new place sounds like a pretty good substitute though!
I honestly am not feeling the loss. There was a time when Authentic was a second home for me, but with the departure of my favorite staff, and the way the owner just seemed to lose interest in the restaurant it became more of a "sometimes" place, only for its convenience.
